No.94 耶馬渓競秀峰（やばけい きょうしゅうほう）

日本三大奇勝、日本新三景にも選ばれています耶馬渓の代表する景勝地で、奇峰や奇岩が1kmに渡り連なっています。禅海和尚が30年かけて手彫りで掘った全長342mの青の洞門もあります。耶馬渓といいましても、深耶馬渓や裏耶馬渓などその範囲は広く、また見どころも多く点在していて、特に紅葉が綺麗な深耶馬渓の一目八景もお勧めですが、季節を問わずということで、今回は奇勝の競秀峰を選びました。とはいえ距離にして20kmほどですので、山国川に沿って耶馬渓の名所を楽しまれるのが良いかと思います。

由布岳の展望台では狭霧台が有名ですが、上記の画像のように由布岳の写真でよく見るくねっとした道と由布岳の眺望は、近くの雨乞牧場へと向かう道の途中から見ることができます。牧場までの道は結構な坂ですが由布岳の好眺望を望めますので、是非、牧場の近く（雨乞牧場は一般の方は立ち入り禁止）まで行って、今度は下りながら由布岳の景観を楽しまれることをお勧めいたします。

長崎県の平戸島にあります峠で、約30haにも及ぶ草原が広がり、峠というよりは丘という感じのとても爽快な場所です。頂上からは眼下に九十九島や玄界灘、対馬の眺望を望めますパノラマの景観を楽しめます。峠といいますと狭い酷道を走ってピストンで来た道を戻りがちですが、川内峠は気持ちの良い峠道の幹線沿いにあるというのも嬉しいところです。

一方通行路の雲仙仁田峠循環道路沿いにあります展望台で、間近に平成新山/雲仙普賢岳を眺め見ることができます。但し、駐車場が狭いため、週末や紅葉時は駐車場待ちの車で渋滞となりますのでご注意を。迫力ある雲仙岳の景観は各所から望めてどこからも好景観を楽しめます。なお、一方通行の峠道は走っていて楽しいですが、同道は狭くて落ちたら崖下ですので、速度の出し過ぎにはご注意を。
